GICM equips the next generation of Church Leaders for exemplary stewardship

The Global Institute of Church Management (GICM) is dedicated to promoting the formation of Church leaders in critical management skills so that they can better serve their communities and give testimony to the Gospel. By coordinating and funding educational institutes and programs of Church Management around the world, GICM helps develop good managerial practices in the context of canon law and Catholic social teaching.

GICM: What we do

The Global Institute of Church Management is dedicated to building the Church that the faithful and Our Lord deserve through programs, research, and partnerships that equip Church leaders to better serve the Gospel.

Support the Program of Church Management

We support and promote the Program of Church Management (PCM) at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Santa Croce) in Rome.

Build Partnerships

We partner with institutions in countries around the globe to advance best business practices in Church institutions so that they may reflect the Church’s Social Teaching.

Provide ongoing education

We provide online course delivery designed to contribute to the ongoing support of education and research in Church Management.

Build Resources that Support Church Teaching through Ongoing Research

We develop programs and resources to support efficient and transparent Church Management, contributing to the theology of the Church outlined by Vatican II and articulated by the magisterium of St. John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis.

Managing the Assets of the Church

Many of us have heard the criticism that the Church is “too rich”. As the world’s oldest and largest non-profit entity, the Church certainly has a wealth of at its disposal. But the truth of those assets — what they are and how they contribute to building the Body of Christ — is much stranger and more nuanced than many know.

In this series, developed in collaboration with the Fitzgerald Institute For Real Estate (University of Notre Dame), we spoke with experts from around the Church—and around the world—about the diverse assets we manage and the critical role that stewardship plays in nurturing these gifts for the good of souls. From managing personnel and pensions funds to real estate, schools, media and technology — even livestock — we had a series of provocative and Church-building discussions you won’t find anywhere else.

Expanding on this theme, we held the Real Estate & the New Evangelization conference in April of 2022 in Rome. You can now watch the speeches and case studies on our website.

Tangible Signs of Mercy In the City

By reusing empty spaces, the Church can use her patrimony to continue her salvific mission, offering shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and care to the sick, treating all of God’s children with the dignity they deserve.

The Importance of Place for Catholicism

By understanding better the Church’s ancient and ever new love of sacred spaces, the possibilities of real estate and the new evangelization should become clearer – and that much more passionate!
